Web host, etc

So I got a new domain, and some hosting. But overall, I feel pretty ripped off.

I could have just got a domain name cheap and hosted it all at my home, but I don’t really think that would work. And besides, apparently I have infinite storage and bandwidth, so ugh, see where this takes me !!!

Also too, apparently this server is ran by 100% wind energy, saving the world bro !!!

i _never_ trust offers of unlimited this or that. you can be pretty sure they’re over-selling their available resources. disk space and bandwidth do cost money, after all. i prefer a webhost who spells out the limits and doesn’t over-sell. that costs a bit more, to be sure, but it works.

Yeah I was a bit sketchy at first with this whole dreamland hosting blah blah, praying though that it will work out okay (I hope) can’t really go back after this far. I was thinking that since they are powered by wind energy it should keep their costs down. Total speculation though.

when they say unlimited, it’s usually legit. it’s called shared hosting. you don’t have your own space so to speak. it’s everyone on the same hardware. and they keep adding servers as they fill up. you’ll find in the fine print that there are stricter rules though. like, you aren’t allowed to store files that aren’t need for your site. and you aren’t allowed to run high traffic sites. but shared servers are way cheaper for the user.
